What to do if nTop Platform crashes

Follow

The only known cause of nTop Platform crashing and unexpectedly closing out is when the computers memory (RAM) runs out space. When the size of the mesh and/or simulation data approaches the computers total RAM, nTop may crash. You can observe the current memory used by nTop using the Windows Task Manager.

Crashes can be prevented by increasing computer memory, reducing mesh element size, or removing memory-intensive blocks, such as Topology Optimization and Simulation blocks, from your notebook.

Locating crash dump logs

The system generates a crash log when nTop Platform exits unexpectedly. Sending this file to technical support helps our developers diagnose the problem. Submit the log, and if possible, include the nTop file you were using, and a description of what you observed.

Find the crash dump file here:

C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\CrashDumps\ntop.exe.N.dmp

Where UserName is the current end-user, and N is a system-generated value.
