603: Create a conformal lattice between CAD faces

Conformal lattices between CAD faces are useful for structural applications and when aesthetics are important to the design. This tutorial video explains how to create a conformal lattice between CAD faces. Before beginning this workflow, make sure you enable Beta blocks.

Let’s get started.

  • Hello Miguel,

You will need to enable Beta blocks to use the Periodic Lattice Body block.
Lesson 203 explains Beta blocks or you can check out this article: https://support.ntopology.com/hc/en-us/articles/360062442113

    Hope this helps!

  • I followed the exact instructions from the demo video, but my nTop is not showing any lattice generation. I confirmed that all inputs match the videos inputs

  • Hey Ethan, feel free to write in a support ticket. We can take a look at your file and see what is going on.

  • How is created the Periodic Lattice Body block?

  • Hey Timothy, you can rotate the direction of the Unit Cell with the 'Orient Unit Cell' beta block (must have beta blocks turned on to use this).

  • Hello nTop,

For unit cells such as a honey comb structure, how can I rotate the direction of the cells? such as so the hexagonal cells are visible from the side view of the pedal.
