Can I export the material from the Homogenize Unit Cell?

Question:

Can I export the material from the Homogenize Unit Cell block?

Applies to:

  • Analysis
  • Lattices

Answer:

Yes, you can export material but you can't import material.

Export the anisotropic material from the Homogenize Unit Cell block by using the Export Material block and setting the material to be the Homogenize Unit Cell block (or by using the material chip from the same block). The Export Material block allows you to choose a variety of file types, including .CSV.

You can also export the material by using Right-click > Export on the Homogenize Unit Cell block.

The material stiffness matrix is exported in the following format if you save it as a .txt or .csv file:

| sxx | | D1 | | exx |
| syy | | D2 D3 | | eyy |
| szz | = | D4 D5 D6 | | ezz |
| sxy | | D7 D8 D9 D10 | | gxy |
| syz | | D11 D12 D13 D14 D15 | | gyz |
| szx | | D16 D17 D18 D19 D20 D21 | | gzx |

  • when I xxport on the homogenize Unit Cell block, the results is as follows like:

    5.57236e+09, 2.6374e+09, 2.63731e+09, 39161.6, 4293.95, -22062.2,
    2.6374e+09, 5.57229e+09, 2.63726e+09,57147.1, 9012.33, -26560.5,
    2.63731e+09, 2.63726e+09, 5.57193e+09, 50209. 6, 2484.56, -78219.4,
    39161.6, 57147.1, 50209.6, 2.538e+09, -14064.8, -4938.48,
    4293.95, 9012.33, 2484.56, -14064.8, 2.53792e+09, 20404,
    -22062.2, -26560.5, -78219.4, -4938.48, 20404, 2.53797e+09

Just wondering if i know matrix representation (stiffness tensor), how can it be visualized back? Or how nTop plot the visualization result of young modulus using 36 stiffness tensor?
